This started as a question in PMHUB Google groups:
"hi, I have heard that in October PMI is going to change the PMP exam.
I will be among the first taking the new exam. Does anyone know the
source of this rumor? Has PMI announced anything on their webpage?
Is there anything official? Thanks."
and there was a post in PMHUB Forums: Newcomers Forum:
with subject: "PMP now or wait for 4th edition of PMBOK is published?"
"I am new (beginner) to PMP and was looking to start my preparation for PMP with PMBOK 3rd Edition.
However, I've found on this forum that the 4th Edition is due by the end of August 08. Hence, would require the forum member’s suggestions on the following:
1. If I do study with:
- PMBOK 3rd edition
- PMP Study Guide - Kim Heldman 4th Edition
- Rita Mulcahy PMP Exam Prep 2005 Fifth edition
Can I still cope up with the 4th edition of PMBOK, as I might look to take the test in Nov/Dec 08.
2. Will the below two study guides be still relevant with PMBOK 4th edition, or most of the study would get scrapped with 4th edition of PMBOK?
Please advice.
Thanks in advance Smile

X,
The last time PMI did this swap over from the old to the new, they had a
period of time, (I seem to recall it was 6 months) where you could take
EITHER exam, depending on which one you had prepared for.
I have seen nothing written yet from PMI, but I would expect the same or at
least a similar approach.
But the best bet is not to ask us, but ask PMI. Unfortunately, contrary to
what we preach, PMI, the organization, is not very good at communicating
changes they make.....
But that is another story......

Hello,
As I have heard from my trainer, is a PMP, PMBok 4 editiom has been
publishedi but the exam will change next year. However As Mr. Giammalvo
said, it's really better to check with PMI.

It is simply not true that PMBOK 4th edition has been published, your
instructor must be joking :-)
However news of the availability of the draft of new PMBOK was
published 6 months ago in PMHUB as NEWS: check this

PMHUB Forums discussed the issue whether to wait for PMBOK 4th ed or
take PMP now:
