Asad Naqvi: Passed the PMP Exam 23-01-2011

Number of View: 4828

It gives me immense pleasure to share the news that I have passed the PMP exam on 23rd January 2011. Sorry, for the delay in sharing the information and Lessons Learned.

Training Course: Took PMP Preparation Course offered by Rowad in Jeddah in June 2009

Training Material Used: PMBOK, Kim Heldman, PM Fast Track, Course material of Rowad, some resources available on the net

Preparation Time: It took about 2-3 months to prepare for the exam

Thanks to:

* Rowad Training – For providing PMP Exam preparation training and the very nice Study material.
* ALEX (PMROADTRIP) – Very nice and easy to understand PMP contents covering entire PMBOK and more.

Tips & Tricks:

* Fill up and submit your application as early as you plan to be a
PMP.
* When you decide to go for PMP – Just go for it with Full Heart.
* Schedule your exam to get in the study mode – Do not think,
re-think, procrastinate too much
* Do not reschedule your exam too many times, unless it is extremely
unavoidable.
* Test yourself extensively – Thoroughly understand its
explanation – Take as many tests as you can – The more the better
* Understand the PMBOK thoroughly – Read it at least twice
* Highlight important points in PMBOK for the second, third read and
quick reference.
* Use other reading material and books to understand & cover other
topics
* Brain Dump in first 15 minutes of the exam – Very useful for
quick reference when in pressure

Exam:

Following is just my experience, not necessarily everyone will have
similar nature of exam & questions. Therefore, please do not rely on
this. Each exam and each set of questions is different.

* They were about 7-8 calculation based questions
* There were some very confusing questions
* There were some were tricky questions – so had to read 2 –
3 times to understand & grasp the key point.
* There were some very easy straight forward questions
* Hardly any question on diagramming.
* Quite a few questions on ITTO
* Overall a balanced set of questions but quite tough.

Wishing all the best and good luck to all PMP aspirants.

Kind regards

Asad Naqvi, MBA, CISA, SPHR, PMP Senior Consultant – HR & Organization Development
