I passed my PMP exam on 14-March-2011. Below are LL. It took me around 4 months preparation.
-      Register for PMP exam ASAP. The format is going to change in Aug 2011. While registering, first buy PMP membership and then apply for exam as to get some discount.
-      I prefer to study a particular chapter, solve the practice questions in that chapter, take notes and then keep continuing.
-      PMP exam PREP book by Rita (6th edition) is an excellent book and not boring like PMBOK. After reading, solve the practice exams at the end of each chapter thoroughly (as explanation and solution is also there). These exercises and explanation will help developing sense for real PMP exam. May be in the final stages, you can try PMFAST track for one sample PMP exam. There are other good PMP books but I have used Rita only.
-      PMBOK: Unfortunately, this is the divine book for PMP exam. So need to understand and get definitions for some very important topics/techniques. In my exam there were lot of questions in which example was given and asked which Risk response technique is used etc..
-       There is one free exam on http://www.pmstudy.com website. This is really good.
PMSTUDY has 3 more tests each containing 200 pages. Here is the link you can access for free. All you need is to increment eight last counter (i.e. the question number) for each test.

-      PMBOK page for each knowledge area having Input, Tools/Techniques, Output
-      Formula sheet: Cost formulas are very important to memorize and understand. Questions are easy and logical.
-      Audio Aid: You can find the Rita book audio version. It is helpful while driving and will help go through the book at no additional time.
-      Glossary for PMBOK is also useful during the final stages and you can just go through. Very few pages only.
